Who We Are
Established in 1958, the Alberta Shorthand Reporters Association (ASRA) is a nonprofit organization representing court reporters, broadcast captioners, and CART providers. Our members use computer-aided transcription (CAT) technology to capture speech at speeds exceeding 225 words per minute at over 95 percent accuracy in real time. Managed by a volunteer council of eight elected members along with the input of two selected student members, ASRA fosters professionalism and growth through continuing education and advocacy. We are a hub for professionals to gather and share resources between members, students, legal professionals, the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community, and other users of our services.
Mission Statement
